Collapse Knapsack Problem Family Theory: From 01 Knapsack to Universal Combinatorial Optimization

Abstract

Based on the axiom "self-referentially complete systems necessarily increase entropy" and the successful Collapse theory for the 01 knapsack problem, this paper extends the theory to the entire knapsack problem family. We prove that all knapsack variants can be solved through φ-trace encoding and Collapse tension fields while maintaining O(n log n) time complexity. More importantly, we discover a unified Collapse combinatorial optimization framework that can handle resource allocation problems under arbitrary constraints.

In the context of combinatorial optimization, this means:

In the 01 knapsack problem, we achieved:

  1. Encoding item IDs as Zeckendorf representation (no consecutive 1s)

  4. Greedy selection until capacity exhausted
